There are many factors that influence language teaching and learning.
Motivation - Motivation is directly proportional to learning. If a learner has higher degree of motivation, the learning will be more effective.
Aptitude - Aptitude is natural ability to do certain things better. It is natural and innate. Aptitude cannot be directly observed, but It can be measured with some psychological tests. Language aptitude is defined as potential for learning a language.
Attitude - Attitude is set of beliefs based on some experiences. A learner can have attitude towards many things, like s/he may have attitude on teacher, 2nd language, classroom, curriculum, other learners etc. This will surely affect her/his learning. Attitude can be positive or negative.
First Language - When we talk about language teaching/learning, it is always about second language. In the process of learning second language, first language plays important role. It can facilitate learning and also can inhibit the learning. T
Social, Cultural background of the learner -
It is also one of the important factors that affects language teaching/learning. The learners social, cultural background can arise superiority or inferiority complex in the student, that will affect his/her learning.
Age - Learner can be an adult or a child. The presence of variables(like Motivation, self confidence, anxiety, etc) are more in adults than a child.
