Factor the expression using the GCF.

24y+88x = ?

I want to find a way to solve this easily because I need to learn this the 6th grade way and the 7th grade way, also (i'm in the 6th grade honors class)

We have:

24y + 88x

We have to factor the expression using the GCF.

Solution:

24y + 88x

The factor of 24

= 2 × 2 × 2 × 3

The factor of 88

= 2 × 2 × 2 × 11

The common factor of 24 and 28 = 2 × 2 × 2

∴ The GCF of 24 and 28 = 8

24y + 88x

= (8 × 3)y + (8 × 11)x

Taking 8 as common, we get

= 8(3y + 11x)

Thus,  The factor the expression using the GCF of 24y + 88x is equal to 8(3y + 11x).

Given : 24y + 88x

To Find :   Factor the expression using the GCF

Solution:

24y + 88x

y and x are variable having no common factor

24  = 2 x 2 x  2 x 3

88 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 11

GCF = Greatest common Factor

2 x 2 x 2  = 8

24 = 8  x 3

88 = 8  x 11

24y + 88x

= 8 x 3y + 8 x 11x

= 8(3y + 11x)

24y + 88x  = 8(3y + 11x)
