FACTOR THEOREM :-

If p(x) is a polynomial of degree n > 1 and a is any real number, then

• (x - a) is a factor of p(x) if p(a) = 0

Now, According to question,

If p - 1 = 0 then p = 1

So, if p(1) = 0 then (p - 1) is a factor of p(x).

Just x = 1 in given polynomial p(x)

p(x) = 3p^4 - 4p^3 - 3p - 1

p(1) = 3 - 4 - 3 - 1 = -5 ≠ 0

Therefore, form FACTOR THEOREM

(p - 1) is not a factor of p(x).

Hope it helps.
