Factories the following expression: a^2 x^2 - y^2

Hello there,

so we need to factorise the expression a²x²-y²

Here you go -

we know the forumula of (a+b) (a-b) = a²-b²

so,

a²x² can be written as (ax)²

and y² will remain the way it is.

we can let a = ax, and b = y and replace the values of a and b in formula (a+b) (a-b) = a²-b²

So, we get :

(ax + y) (ax - y) = (ax)² - (y)²

so your answer is - (ax + y) (ax - y)
