Factorise form of x² - 8x - 84 is :-

⟹ x² - 14x + 6x - 84

⟹ x( x - 14) + 6 ( x - 14)

 \therefore ( x + 6) ( x - 14)

 \rm \pink{How \:  to\:  find :}

The constant in the expression is 84.

Constant :- It is a value that cannot be changed.

So ,

we will see the factors of 84 ⟹ 2,4,6,7

Now we will see the coefficient and variable, that is -8x ( 8 is coefficient and x is variable ) .

2 × 42 = 84

4 × 21 = 84

6 × 14 = 84

7 × 12 = 84

In this we can see that by - 14 + 6 we get - 8.

Which is same to the coefficient and variable= 8x.

So , we will place - 14x + 6x instead of -8x.

And will take x and 6 as common According to the expression.

From the expression we get :- x( x -14) + 6 ( x -14)

And we can now easily find the answer , that is (x + 6) ( x -14 )
