Answer:

  \small{ \color{lime}{{x}^{2}  + x - }}

 \small12 \: can \: be \: factorised \: by \: splitting \\ te \: middle \: term

  \small{ \pink{{x}^{2}  + x - 12}}

 \small{ \color{red}{sum = 1}}

 \small{ \orange{product =  - 12}}

  \small{ \color{purple}{ {x}^{2}  + x - 12}}

 \small{ \color{blue} =  {x}^{2}  + 4x - 3x - 12}

  \small{ \color{amber}= x(x + 4) - 3(x + 4)}

  \small{ \color{grey}= x(x + 4)(x - 3)}

therefore(x + 4) \: and \: (x - 3) \: are \\ the \: factors \: of \:  {x}^{2}  + x - 12
