Given Equation is (1/4)x^2 + x - 3.

=> (\frac{1}{4})x^2 + 4x - 12

=> (\frac{1}{4})[x^2 + 6x - 2x - 12]

=> \frac{1}{4}[x(x + 6) - 2(x + 6)]

=> (\frac{1}{4})[(x - 2)(x + 6)]

Hope it helps!
