Factorise 1/4x^2+x-3 by splitting the middle term​

x^2/4 + x - 3 = 0

x^2/4 + 3/2 -1/2 -3 = 0

x^2/4 + 6/4 - 2/4x -3 = 0

x/4(x+6) -2/4(x+6)

(x+6) (x/4-2/4)
