12 {x}^{3} + 4 {x}^{2} - 3x - 1 \\ \\ 4 {x}^{2} (3x + 1) - 1(3x + 1) \\ \\ (3x + 1)(4 {x}^{2} - 1)

By trial and error method

let the value of x be 0

(3x + 1)(4 {x}^{2} - 1) \\ put \: x \: = 0 \\ (3 \times 0 + 1)(4 \times {0}^{2} - 1) \\ + 1 - 1 \\ 0

the value of x can be 0
