16p² - q² + 12q - 36

⇒ 16p² - (q² - 12q + 36)

⇒ 16p² - [q² - 2(6)(q) + 6²]

⇒ 16p² - (q - 6)² ... [∵ (a - b)² = a² -2ab + b²]

⇒ (16p + q - 6)(16p - q + 6) ... [∵ a² - b² = (a + b)(a - b)]
