2x²-7x-39=0

Comparing the above equation with ax²+bx+c=0

a=2 , b=-7 and c=-39

b²-4ac=(-7) ²-4×2×-39

=49+312

=361

Now, by formula method,..

x=-b±√b²-4ac/2a

x=7±√361/2×2

x=7±19/4

x=7+19/4 or x=7-19/4

x=26/4 or x=-12/4

x=13/2 or x=-3

(13/2 , -3 ) are the roots of given quadratic equation.
