GIVEN FUNCTION :

=> (2 x + y )² - 6x - 3y - 4 = 0

To FIND :

FACTORS

SOLUTION :

we should write this as

=> ( 2x + y )² - 3 (2x+y) - 4 = 0

Now put (2x+y) = t

=> t² - 3t -4 = 0

=> t² - 4t + t -4 = 0

=> t(t - 4) + 1 ( t - 4 ) = 0

=> (t + 1) (t - 4) = 0

Now replace "t"

= (2x+y+1)(2x+y-4) =0

Hence , the factors are (2x + y + 1) and (2x + y - 4) .
