hi mate,

solution: 4x^2 -5x+2

Solving 4x^2-5x+2 = 0 by the Quadratic Formula .

According to the Quadratic Formula, x , the solution for Ax^2+Bx+C = 0

- B ± √ B^2-4AC

x = ————————

2A

In our case, A = 4

B = -5

C = 2

Accordingly, B^2 - 4AC =

25 - 32 =

-7

Applying the quadratic formula :

5 ± √ -7

x = —————

8

Accordingly,√ -7 =

√ 7 • (-1) =

√ 7 • √ -1 =

± √ 7 • i

√ 7 , rounded to 4 decimal digits, is 2.6458

So now we are looking at:

x = ( 5 ± 2.646 i ) / 8

Two imaginary solutions :

x =(5+√-7)/8=(5+i√ 7 )/8= 0.6250+0.3307i

or:

x =(5-√-7)/8=(5-i√ 7 )/8= 0.6250-0.3307i

Two solutions were found :

x =(5-√-7)/8=(5-i√ 7 )/8= 0.6250-0.3307i

x =(5+√-7)/8=(5+i√ 7 )/8= 0.6250+0.3307i

i hope it helps you.
