Question

Factorise: (5x²+13x-6 )by splitting the middle term.

Answer

By splitting the middle term

 \bf{5x {}^{2}  + 13x - 6 = 0}

 \tt \rightarrowtail{5x {}^{2}  + 13x - 6 = 0}

 \tt \rightarrowtail{5x {}^{2}  + (10 + 3)x - 6}

 \tt \rightarrowtail{5x {}^{2}  + 10x  + 3x - 6 = 0}

 \tt \rightarrowtail{5x(x + 2)+ 3(x + 2) = 0}

 \tt \rightarrowtail{(x + 2)(5x + 3)</u><u>}

Either,

 \tt \rightarrowtail{(x + 2) = 0}  \\  \tt \rightarrowtail{x =  - 2}

Or

 \tt \rightarrowtail{ (5x + 3) = 0} \\ \tt \rightarrowtail{x =  \frac{ - 3}{ \:  \: 5}}

\tt{Hence, ~x~ is ~either~ (-2)~ or~ \frac{-3}{~5}}
