To factorize : 6z^{2} + 17z + 5

Solution :

  • To factorize 6z^{2} + 17z + 5 we use method of splitting the middle term.
  • To factorize given algebraic equation we split the middle term such that , product of two middle terms is third term and on adding or subtracting these terms we get original middle term .
  • Therefore ,  6z^{2} + 17z + 5 = 6z^{2} + 2z + 15z + 5

Taking common terms out we get,

                                                  = 2z ( 3z + 1 ) + 5 (3z + 1)

                                                  = ( 3z + 1) ( 2z + 5 )

Hence , factors of 6z^{2} + 17z + 5 are ( 3z + 1 ) ( 2z + 5 ) .
