Answer:

( 4x - 7y ) ( 2x + y )

Step-by-step explanation:

To find ---> Factors of 8x² - 10 xy - 7y²

Solution---> ATQ, we have to find factors of

8x² - 10 xy - 7y²

We factorize this expression by using the method of splitting the middle term method.

In this method first we multiply the coefficient of x² and y² from which we get, 8 × 7 = 56 then we do prime factorization of 56

56 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 7

Now we make two numbers from these factors whose difference is ten.

Such numbers are

2 × 2 = 4 and 2 × 7 = 14 , their difference is

14 - 4 = 10 .

Now ,

8x² - 10 x y - 7 y²

Putting 10 = ( 14 - 4 ) , in it , we get,

= 8x² - ( 14 - 4 ) x y - 7y²

Multiplying by xy in the each term of bracket, we get,

= 8x² - ( 14 xy - 4 xy ) - 7y²

Open the bracket by changing the sign

= 8x² - 14 xy + 4 xy - 7y²

= 2x ( 4x - 7y ) + y ( 4x - 7y )

= ( 4x - 7y ) ( 2x + y )
