Question :-

Factorise :

  • 9x² - 6x + 1

________________

Method 1 : Middle Term Splitting

9x² - 6x + 1

= 9x² - 3x - 3x + 1

= 3x( 3x - 1 ) - 1( 3x - 1 )

[taking 3x and -1 as common respectively]

= ( 3x - 1 )( 3x - 1 )

[taking ( 3x - 1 ) as common]

________________

Method 2 : Taking whole square

9x² - 6x + 1

= ( 3x )² - 2 ( 3x )( 1 ) + ( 1 )²

= ( 3x - 1 )²

[using the formula]

= ( 3x - 1 )( 3x - 1 )
