QUESTION :

 \\ \sf{factorise  \: :  {a}^{2} -   {(a + b)}^{2} }

ANSWER :

\\  \\   \sf{we \:  \: will \:  \: expand \:  {(a + b)}^{2}  \:  \: using \:  \: this \:  \: formula  }\:  \: :   \\  \\  \boxed{ \bf {(a + b)}^{2}  =  {a}^{2}  + 2ab +  {b}^{2} } \\  \\   \\

\sf {a}^{2}  - ( {a}^{2}  + 2ab +  {b}^{2} )  \\  \\   \sf=  {a}^{2}  -  {a}^{2}  - 2ab -  {b}^{2}  \\  \\   \sf= 0 - 2ab -  {b}^{2}  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \\  \\   \sf=  - 2ab -  {b}^{2}  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \\  \\  \sf{taking \:  \: ( - b )\:  \: as \:  \: common} \:  :  \\  \\   \sf=   \underline{\underline{ - b(2a + b) }}\:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \\  \\

Hope this helps you !
