A pleasure afternoon to you dear friend,
( ax + by )² + (ay - bx )²
We know
(m+ n)² = m² + n² + 2mn
(m - n )² = m² + n² - 2mn
So ,
= [(ax)² + (by)² + 2(ax)(by)]+ [(ay²) + (bx)² + 2(ay)(bx)]
= [a²x² + b²y² + 2abxy][a²y² + b²x² - 2abxy]
= a²x² + b²y² + 2abxy + a²y² + b²x² -
2abxy
= a²x² + b²y² + a²y² + b²x²
= a² ( x² + y² ) + b² ( x² + y² )
= (a² + b² ) ( x² + y²)
Hope it helps
