m=7

Step-by-step explanation:

let me explain,

m²-m-42/m+6

factorise the numerator first,

use this formula : -b±√b²-4ac / 2a

a=1, b=-1 , c=-42

m= -(-1) ± [1²- (4×1×-42)] / 2×1 (don't panic, not that difficult though ;p)

= 1 ± ( 1+ 168) /2

= 1 ± ( 169)/2

= 1±13/2

Now two conditions,

1+13/2, 1-13/2

=14/2, -12/2

=7, -6

m-7, m+6 so put these values in the first equation.

we get, (m-7) (m+6) /(m+6) both m+6 will get cancelled and you'll be left with m-7 i.e., m=7

And that's it!! As simple as that :)
