On factoring p²- 23p + 132  we will get (p - 11) (p - 12)

Given:

p²- 23p + 132

To find:

Factorization of p²- 23p + 132

Solution:

Given  p²- 23p + 132

Split the middle term -23p  as - 11p and - 12p [ ∵ 11 × 12 = 132 ]

then p²- 23p + 132  can be written as

⇒ p²- 11p -12p + 132

Take p common from p² and -11p, take -12p common from -12p and 132

⇒  p(p - 11) -12 (p - 11)

Take common (p - 11)

⇒  (p - 11) (p - 12)

On factoring p²- 23p + 132  we will get (p - 11) (p - 12)
