x^2 -2x -3x +6 = 0

x(x-2) -3(x-2) = 0

(x-2) (x-3) = 0

(x-3) = 0 => x = 3

Answer :-

(x - 2)(x - 3) = 0

Explanation :-

\sf\implies\: x^2 - 5x + 6 = 0 \\ \\ \\ \sf\implies\: x^2 - 2x - 3x + 6 = 0 \\ \\ \\ \sf\implies\: x (x - 2) - 3 (x - 2) = 0 \\ \\ \\ \qquad\large {\boxed {\bf { (x - 2)(x - 3) = 0}}}

Steps :-

  • Break the Expression into groups

  • Factor out x from x^2 - 2x : x (x - 2)

  • Factor out the Common term : x - 2
