Step-by-step explanation:

Given : ax + a²x + aby + by - (ax + by)²

Rearranging the terms, we get

→ ax + by + a²x + aby - (ax + by)²

→ (ax + by) + a²x + aby - (ax + by)²

Taking common terms out from a²x + aby, we get

→ (ax + by) + a(ax + by) - (ax + by)²

Now, taking out (ax + by) as common, we get

→ (ax + by) [1 + a - (ax + by)]

On further solving, we get

(ax + by)(1 + a - ax - by)
