Step-by-step explanation:

1) x^2 + 7x - x - 7

X ( X + 7 ) - 1 ( X + 7 ) = 0

(X - 1) (X + 7) = 0

x = 1 & -7.

2) X^2 + 9X - 2X - 18

X ( X + 9 ) - 2 ( X + 9 ) = 0

(X - 2) (X + 9) = 0

X = 2 & -9.
