Given :  equation \ is , \ x^2-1

for middle term splitting, add and subtract x in the equation,

x^2 +x - x - 1

x(x+1) \ - 1(x+1)

  (x + 1)(x - 1)

______________(or)_______________

We have,  a^2-b^2 = (a+b)(a-b)

  ∴  x^2 - 1^2 = (x+1)(x-1)
