factorise the following by splitting the middle term 15 y square minus 8y + 1​

Given polynomial:-

  • 15y² - 8y + 1.

And we have to split the middle term.

So Here,

↦ Coefficient of x² × Constant Term,

= 15 × 1.

= 15.

Also,

↦ 15 = 3 × 5.

And,

↦ 3 + 5 = 8 = Middle Term.

Hence Lets split the middle term:-

↦ 15y² - 8y + 1.

= 15y² - (5 + 3)y + 1.

= 15y² - 5y - 3y + 1.

= 5y(3y - 1) - 1(3y - 1).

= (5y - 1)(3y - 1).
