Q. Factorisation »

9z² - x² - 4y² + 4xy

= 9z² - (x² + 4y² - 4xy)

= (3z)² - [(x)² + (2y)² - 2(x)(2y)]

= (3z)² - (x - 2y)²

= [3z + (x - 2y)] [3z - (x - 2y)]

= (3z + x - 2y) (3z - x + 2y)

Answer » (3z + x - 2y) (3z - x + 2y)

Identities Used »

1. a² + b² - 2ab = (a - b)²

2. a² - b² = (a + b) (a - b)
