factorise the following expression using the common factor method (a)2x-8 (b)2x-xy (c)15z2x-6zx

2x - 8

Take out common factor 2:

= 2(x - 4)


------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2x - xy

Take out common factor x:

= x (2 - y)


------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

15z²x - 6zx

Take out common factor 3zx:

=3zx( 5z - 2)

(a)2x-8

HCF of 2x and 8 are 2

2[(2x/2)-(8/2)]

2(x-4)

(b) 2x-xy

HCF of 2x and xy are x

∴x(2-y)
