let us consider a=3x,b=y

we, know that (a+b) ^2=a^2+ b^2+2ab

(3x+y)^2=9x^2+y^2+6xy

 {a}^{2}  + 2ab +  {b}^{2}  =  {(a + b)}^{2}

 = 9 {x}^{2}  + 6xy +  {y}^{2}

 =  {(3x)}^{2}  + 2(3x)(y) +  {(y)}^{2}

 =  {(3x + y)}^{2}
