Factorisation

Given Equation

x² + 6x + 9 - 4y²

Formula to be used

a² + 2ab + b² = ( a + b )²

a² - b² = ( a + b )( a - b )

Solving

Given equation

x² + 6x + 9 - 4y²

x² + 2( x )( 3 ) + 3² - 4y²

Using mentioned formula.

( x + 3 )² - 4y²

( x + 3 )² - ( 2y )²

Using mentioned formula.

( x + 3 + 2y )( x + 3 - 2y )

Answer

So, on factorising we get,

( x + 3 + 2y )( x + 3 - 2y )

Some More Formulae

( a - b )² = a² - 2ab + b²

a⁴ - b⁴ = ( a² + b² )( a + b )( a - b )

a⁴ + a²+ 1 = ( a² + a + 1)( a² - a + 1)
