Given : (x + 3)² - 8 (x + 3) + 16

To Find :  Factorize

Solution:

(x + 3)² - 8 (x + 3) + 16

= (x + 3)² - 2(4) (x + 3) + 4²

Use (a  - b)²  = a²  - 2ab + b²

a  = x  + 3

b = y

= (x + 3 - 4)²

= (x - 1)²

= (x - 1)(x - 1)

(x + 3)² - 8 (x + 3) + 16   =   (x - 1)(x - 1)
