Let x = -2
⇒ -8 + 16 + 22 – 30 = 0
∴ -2 is or (x + 2) is a factor
Dividing x3 + 4x2 – 11x – 30 by (x + 2)
Quotient = x2 + 2x – 15
⇒ x2 + 5x – 3x – 15 = 0
⇒ x (x + 5) – 3 (x + 5) = 0
⇒ (x – 3) (x + 5) = 0
Other factors are (x – 3) and (x + 5)
∴ (x + 2), (x – 3) and (x + 5) are the roots of the equation
