Put x=1

1+4+1-6=6-6=0

So x=1 is or x-1=0 is a factor

Divide the expression by x-1 as shown in attachment

We get quotient x^2+ 5x+ 6

Factorising we get, x^2+2x+3x+6

x(x+2)+3(x+2)

(x+2)(x+3)

Hence x^3 + 4x^2 + x - 6 =(x+2)(x+3)(x-1)
