Factorise:(x+y)(2x+5)-(x+y)(x+3)

(x + y)(2x + 5) - (x + y)(x + 3)

(Taking (x + y) as common.)

= (x + y) [(2x + 5) - (x + 3)]

= (x + y) (2x + 5 - x - 3)

= (x + y) (x + 2)

Expanding :-

= x (x + 2) + y (x + 2)

= x^2 + 2x + xy + 2y
