Factorise x² + 5x + 6​

Factorize product, ac=1×6=6 into two factors in such a way that sum of these two factors is equal to the coefficient of variable x i.e. b=5 in quadratic polynomial. Thus we can factorize 6=2×3 , separate & factor out as follows

x2+5x+6=x2+2x+3x+6

=x2+2x+3x+6

=x(x+2)–––––––+3(x+2)–––––––

=(x+2)(x+3)
