see,
given,
x³ - 2x² - x + 2
= x² ( x - 2 ) - 1 ( x - 2 )
= ( x - 2 ) ( x² - 1 )
either,
x² - 1 = 0 or x - 2 = 0
=> x = √1 or => x = 2

you have do mistake
(x-2)(x²-1)
we can write (x²-1) as (x+1)(x-1)
so its (x-2)(x+1)(x-1)
