Answer:

To solve =x³+4x²-x-4

let p(x) =x³+4x²-x-4

put factors of 4 in p(x) to obtain zero

put 1 in p(x)

p(1)=1³+4(1)²-1-4

= 1+4-5

= 5-5

= 0

hence x-1 is afactor of p(x)

divide x-1 with p(x) to find queotent=

x³+4x²-x-4 ÷ x-1

=x²+5x+4 =g(x)

now factorise g(x) by middle term splitting

g(x)=x²+5x+4

=x²+x+4x+4

=x(x+1)+4(x+1)

=(x+1)(x+4)

hence answer is (x+1),(x-1),(x+4)
