ANSWER:

GIVEN:

  • 2x²-√7x-7

TO FIND:

  • Factorise the above expression.

SOLUTION:

= 2x²-√7x-7

= 2x²-2√7x+√7x-7

= (2x²-2√7x)+(√7x-7)

= 2x(x-√7)+√7(x-√7)

= (x-√7)(2x+√7)

IF THE QUESTION ASK TO FIND THE VALUE OF 'x' Then:

=>(x-√7)(2x+√7) = 0

Either (x-√7) = 0

=> x = √7

Either (2x+7)= 0

=> 2x = (-7)

=> x = -7/2

NOTE:

  • (a+b)² = a²+b²+2ab
  • (a-b)² = a²+b²-2ab
  • (a+b)³ = a³+b³+3ab(a+b)
  • (a-b)³ = a³-b³-3ab(a-b)
