9x^2+3xy+(1/4)y^2

You can write it in this format

9x^2=(3x)^2 .........................(1)

(1/4)y^2=(1/2 y)^2 ................ (2)

3xy=2×3x ×(1/2)y...................(3)

Substitute (1),(2),(3)

That is

=(3x)^3 + 2×3x ×(1/2) y+(1/2 y^2)

It is in this form

[a^2+2ab+b^2= (a+b)^2]

=[3x+(1/2)y] ^2
