Question

p²-14p-32

\sf\huge\bold{\underline{\underline{{Solution}}}}

the above equation is in the form of a quadratic equation so,we will solve by middle term splitting method.

How to factorise

p²-14p-32

The coefficient of p² is 1

-14p is a middle term and its coefficient is -14.

and the constant" is -32

Step-1 : Multiply the coefficient of p² by the constant 32×1=32

Step-2 : Find two factors of 32 whose sum is equal to the coefficient of the middle term, which is -14.

factors of 32=2×2×2×2×2

we have to make -14 => -16+2= -14

=>p²-14p-32=0

=>p²-16p+2p-32

=>p(p-16)+2(p-16)

=>(p+2)(p-16)=0

=>p+2=0

=>p=-2

=>p-16=0

=>p=16

∴p=-2 & p=16

Step-by-step explanation:

p²-14p-32=0

p²+2p-16p-32

p(p+2)-16(p+2)

(p+2)(p-16)=0

∴ p+2=0 OR p-16=0

∴ p = -2 OR p = 16
