REQUIRED SOLUTION:

x²-10x+24

=> x²+2x-12x+24

=> x(x+2)-12(x+2)

=> (x-12)(x+2)

=> x=12,-3

Method applied is middle term splitting.

To factorise any quadratic equation we can solve it either by using middle term splitting and by using quadratic formula.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

General form of quadratic equation:

  • ax²+bx+c=0

Let's understand middle term splitting in detail!

To find roots by middle term splitting you have to multiply the coefficient of x² (a) and the constant term (c) and have to arrange the product of a and c in such a way that it can remove the middle term (or split).
