given :- x² - 2x + 1

using splitting method,

➡ x² - (x + x) + 1

➡ x² - x - x + 1

➡ x (x - 1) - 1(x - 1)

➡ (x - 1) (x - 1)

hence, (x - 1) is the factor of given polynomial.
