x^2 - a^2 - 2a - 1 = 0

x^2 - (a^2 + 2a + 1) = 0

x^2 - (a + 1)^2

(x - (a + 1)) (x + (a + 1))

(x - a - 1) (x + a + 1)

Hope it helps you.....☺️
