(x+4)^2 +4(x+4) - 21

= (x+4)(x+4 + 4) - 21

= (x+4)(x+8) - 21

= x^2 + 12x + 32 - 21

= x^2 +12x + 11

= x^2 + 11x + x + 11

= x(x+11) + 1(x+11)

= (x+11)(x+1)
