The expression is given as : x² - 2√2x - 30

In order to factorise the given expression , we have to find out two numbers p and q such that  p + q = - 2√2 and pq = - 30 :

Clearly, - 5√2 + 3√2 = - 2√2 and - 5√2 ×  3√2 = 30

So, we write the middle term - 2√2 as - 5√2 + 3√2 :

= x² - 5√2x + 3√2x - 30

Factorise by the grouping :

= (x² - 5√2x) + (3√2x - 30)

= x(x - 5√2) + 3√2 (x - 5√2)

= (x - 5√2) (x + 3√2)

Hence,  the factorisation of x² - 2√2x - 30 is (x - 5√2) (x + 3√2) .

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

= x² - 5√2x + 3√2x - 30

= (x² - 5√2x) + (3√2x - 30)

= x(x - 5√2) + 3√2 (x - 5√2)

= (x - 5√2) (x + 3√2)
