x² + 5x + 1
= x² + 5x + (5/2)² -(5/2)² + 1
= x² + 2.(5/2)x + (5/2)² + { 1 - (5/2)²}
[ here , use formula a² +2ab + b² = (a + b)²]
=( x + 5/2)² - (√21/2)²
[use, a² - b² = (a -b )(a + b) ]
= (x + 5/2 - √21/2)(x + 5/2 + √21/2)
hence, (x + 5/2 -√21/2) and (x + 5/2 +√21/2) are the factors of x² + 5x +1
= x² + 5x + (5/2)² -(5/2)² + 1
= x² + 2.(5/2)x + (5/2)² + { 1 - (5/2)²}
[ here , use formula a² +2ab + b² = (a + b)²]
=( x + 5/2)² - (√21/2)²
