Weathering of soil is disintegration of it from parent material which can be either physical or chemical.

Physical agencies which carry out weathering are wind, water, ice, gravity and chemical agencies include oxidation, reduction and carbonation.

Further they can be residual or transported based on their location from parent rock and their constituents.
