Factors responsible for ionic properties in a compound are:
1) the force of attraction between positive and negative ions i.e. anion and cation.
2) state of the ionic compound.
3) intermolecular space between the atoms.
Properties of ionic compound:
1) they are generally solid in nature because of strong force of attraction.
2) they have high melting and boiling points because of strong inter ionic attraction.
3) they are soluble in water and conduct electricity in their molten state.
