Nationalism was promoted mainly because of the English language,  Transport and communication,  Revolts in Maharashtra

Explanation:

There were many factors responsible for the promotion of Nationalism during the British Rule in India. The first responsible factor was language. The English language was understood by all the leaders across the country at the same it produced an  alien effect for the Indians. It was despised by them as the English language was used by the British as a mark of supremacy. The Indians now wanted a language that would define their Nationality and pride. Hindi was the closest option of a National Language .

Transport and communication served as a great catalyst to boost the Nationalistic Movement. Indian Leaders and Nationalists could easily meet each other and travel all over India to spread Nationalism.

The revolts of Maharashtra triggered the Nationalist movement. The Marathis served as an idol and inspiration for fellow Indians as they vehemently fought for their rights and culture setting an example for the others to do the same .
