Given:

Fahad filled 2/7 of container P with water. He filled another container Q with 3 times the amount of water he filled in container P.If the capacity of container Q is double that of container P

To Find:

what fraction of container Q did he fill with water?

Solution:

For ease lets take the total volume of container P as 700x, then the amount of water Fahad filled will be,

=\frac{2}{7}*700x\\=200x

Then he again filled another container Q with the triple of what he filled in container P so he filled,

V_{Qf}=3*200x\\=600x

Now it is given that the total volume of container Q is double of container P,

V_{Qt}=2*700x\\=1400x

Now we can find by what fraction did Fahad filled container Q with

Ratio=\frac{600x}{1400x} \\=\frac{3}{7}

Hence, Fahad filled container Q with a 3/7th fraction.
